Kindergarten/New Student Registration Process

Welcome to the Milton Area School District! We utilize the online registration component of Sapphire, our student information system.  Parents or guardians wishing to enroll or re-enroll a student must complete the online registration and call our centralized registration staff at (570)742-7614, option 2, then press 4, to review the online information submittedParents are encouraged to upload the required documents (listed below on this page) at the time of online registration completion.  This page contains information and resources to help you complete the registration process.

Who Can Register a Student?

Parents or court appointed guardians living in the Milton Area School District may enroll a student.

Kindergarten Registration

  • Kindergarten students must be five (5) years old before September 1 of the current year.

  • You will need to schedule an appointment for your child to be screened for kindergarten by calling Baugher Elementary at 570-742-7614 option 5.

Online Registration

Using the district’s Sapphire Community Web Portal, all new student registrations must be completed online.  In order to use the online portal system, you will need to create a Sapphire account. You must first have a personal email account so that an account registration password can be set and emailed to you.  Create a free Gmail account here

To Register Your Child(ren) Online

  1. Go to Sapphire Community Web Portal Student Registration Page and click Create a New Account

  2. Complete all fields and click the Next button to complete the online registration (you must have a valid email address)

  3. You will receive an email upon submitting the online application

  4. Follow the directions in the email to activate your account

  5. Upon account activation go back to the Sapphire Community Web Portal Student Registration Page

  6. Login using the email and password you just activated

  7. Click on the “Create” button to start a new online registration form

  8. Enter the requested information on each page

  9. When all pages are completed click “submit”

  10. Complete the online form for each child you wish to register

  11. Call centralized registration staff at (570) 742-7614, option 2 (District Office), option 4 (Child Registration) to review online registration information

**Please note: If your student(s) was previously enrolled in the Milton Area School District, you will be prompted to indicate this in the online registration process.  All required documentation (listed below) is still required to be uploaded.

Documentation Needed for Student Registration
The following documents are required to register your student(s) in the Milton Area School District.
You are encouraged to upload required documents below to the applicable registration page; paper copies will be accepted. Please do not click “submit” on the online registration until all documents are uploaded. Once the registration is submitted, you will not be able to go back and upload. 

  • Birth certificate of student:  If you need to order a birth certificate for your child(ren), please click here.

  • Immunization records (you can get a copy of your child’s immunization records from the school you are leaving or from your child’s physician)

  • Proof of residence in Milton Area School District: (any two of the following):

    • Deed

    • Lease

    • Current utility bill

    • Current credit card bill

    • Current property tax bill/receipt

    • Vehicle registration

    • Driver’s License

    • DOT Identification Card –If you do not have any bills in your name, two proofs of residency are still required. One such proof is to bring a person with whom you reside along with their Driver’s License or Photo ID to the Driver License Center where they will be required to sign an affidavit stating that you reside with them. You will also need to provide a second proof of residency such as official mail (bank statement, tax notice, magazine, etc.) that has your name and address on it. The address must match that of the person with whom you reside.

  • Current custody agreements/court orders/or notarized statement (if applicable)

    • Parents divorced/separated or share a biological child, or if appointed temporary guardianship or Guardian Ad Litem

    • If only verbal custody agreement exists, a notarized statement is required.

  • Signed Student Device Agreement

    • Where possible, please print out the device agreement, sign, and bring to the District Office. Copies are also available in the District Office. An agreement must be signed before a device is issued for the student(s).

The following parent/guardian identification is recommended:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License

  • Valid Pennsylvania Photo Identification Card

Required Immunizations

For attendance in all grades, students need the following:

  • Tetanus – 4 doses with 1 dose administered on or after the fourth birthday

  • Diphtheria – 4 doses with 1 dose administered on or after the fourth birthday

  • Polio – 3 or more properly spaced doses

  • Measles – 2 properly spaced doses

  • Mumps – 2 properly spaced doses

  • Rubella (German Measles) – 1 dose

  • Hepatitis B – 3 properly spaced doses

  • Varicella (chicken pox)- immunity, either from vaccination (2 doses), history of disease or laboratory testing.

If registering a student in 7th Grade, the below immunizations are required to be complete by the start of school:

  • 1 dose of tetanus, Diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) if 5 years has elapsed since last tetanus immunization.

  • 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV)

If registering a student in 12th Grade, the below immunization is required after the age of 16 and at the start of 12th Grade:

  • 2nd dose of meningococcal (MCV4)

Every student in grades K-12 must be immunized, unless exempt for medical reason, religious belief or philosophical/strong moral or ethical conviction.
